TOCH South Sudan has officially opened Women’s & Girls’ Friendly Space (WGF) in Lekakedu of Yirol East County on Monday Feb 15, 2021. The facility was officially opened by Nyika, the Deputy Country representative of CTP and witnessed by Laker Joyce Patra, the TOCH’s Head of Programs. The government was represented by County RRC and Executive Directors of Yirol East County as well as representatives of other partners. The occasion was attended by community chiefs and more than two (02) hundred women and girls from different parts of the County.
The women and girls requested TOCH & CTP to equip the facility with services like pit latrines, water, bedsheets, grinding mill, tailoring machines and Katenga clothes to help them improve their livelihoods. The Women Leaders, Monica Ayor Anyor and Rebecca Tier Nguen appreciated TOCH and CTP for their constant supports in empowering women and girls to develop. The County Director of Land & Survey positively responded by allocating 100 by 800 square metres piece of land as women centre. TOCH, CTP and other partners promised to continue providing women and girls with necessary supports related to empowerment activities in Yirol. After keenly waiting for commissioning of the centre, women exhibited great appreciations for opening the facility.
